goatees: lahoo23: hardprint: HOOK UP: STEVEN MILLER Photographer Steven Miller has a talent that most photographers can only wish for…or at least I do. He captures male sexuality in such a refreshingly brazen way that brings your fantasies to life! As he describes his series Reclamations on his site: Social conditioning teaches that public displays of intimacy are shameful and are made even more taboo when only men are involved. The images in Reclamations consequently become acts of agency: to examine my own internalized homophobia and fear of intimacy in public spaces, and to create spells that further the goal of normalizing gay behavior. In making the work, I use the subjects’ workplace or find a public space as a backdrop for these fictive narratives. After finding out what the subjects are comfortable doing in front of the camera, we then push it just a bit further. In this liminal state my subjects’ transgressive actions remake mundane locales into sexually charged spaces. Follow his Tumblr and check out his amazing photography here. Exciting photo… woohoo
